A Letter From Our Team: Why We Feel Every Project Matters

At Potomac Photonics, we do not just manufacture parts. We help make life better.

That may sound bold, but when you are fabricating components for things like cancer diagnostics, drug delivery, alternative energy systems, or space technology, every cut, every hole, and every micron matters. We feel that responsibility deeply. It is what gets us up in the morning and keeps us pushing boundaries.

Every project that comes through our doors is an opportunity to partner with someone trying to do something extraordinary. That is how we see our customers. Not just as clients, but as partners. From our first conversation to the final part delivery, we walk alongside them every step of the way.

We listen carefully. We ask questions that others may overlook. We collaborate directly with engineers, researchers, and innovators to fully understand the function and the “why” behind every part. Once we understand it, we go to work. We bring decades of experience, advanced microfabrication capabilities, and a commitment to precision that never wavers.

This mindset is woven into our culture. It is why we have an in-house R&D team dedicated to developing new manufacturing technologies. It is why we invest in our people and our systems. It is why we never settle for “good enough.” Our customers are pushing limits. We are here to make sure their parts do not hold them back.

That same spirit guided one of the biggest decisions in our company’s history: joining Goodfellow.

When the opportunity came to become part of a global leader in materials, we saw what it could mean for our customers. Goodfellow’s vast inventory of over 170,000 materials and decades of expertise in material science now sit alongside Potomac’s microfabrication capabilities. Together, we have created a single ecosystem where ideas can move faster, smarter, and more efficiently from concept to production.

We made that choice not to grow bigger, but to grow better. We did it for the scientists, the engineers, the students, and the startups who trust us with their ideas.

We take that trust seriously.

So whether we are machining tiny channels in a polymer film or creating a multilayer device from exotic metals, we remember why we are here. We are not just making a part. We are supporting a mission. We are enabling discovery. We are helping make life better.

And we are just getting started.
